Layoffs at Mozilla

What do you think about the layoffs at Mozilla? I also read that Mozilla is changing its direction.

I’m deeply concerned.

Also interesting is that the Thunderbird subsidiary is not affected:

I don’t know, it’s hard to tell from the official announcements. Mozilla folks did many good things, but in my opinion it’s good for the overall free software movement if Mozilla focuses on its main contributions towards the cause for an open internet and against monopolies.

I think I read somewhere that the fight for the Open Web is no longer high on Mozilla’s priority list.

And some staff who is no longer with Mozilla complains about the
opposite, that Mozilla is still focused too much on the old things while
it should switch to something else. I suppose the perception depends on
personal opinions on which ingredients of an open web are more important
or more likely to be addressed by Mozilla.
