Refund of pre-installed Windows: Lenovo must pay 20,000 euros in damages

In a historic judgement in Italy, in a case initiated by FSFE supporter Luca Bonissi, Lenovo was ordered to pay 20,000 euros in damages for abusive behaviour in denying to refund the price of a pre-installed Windows licence. In a strongly motivating gesture for the Free Software cause, Luca also donated 15,000 euros to the FSFE.

This is historic! This is so much of good news!

I’m honestly moved to tears when reading what the Court of Monza decided to set an example.
Thank you so much, Luca! :sunflower:

Now, this probably doesn’t automatically translate to that we’ll be able to unselect the OS option in the Lenovo web shop. There probably has to be another court decision building on this achievement to force Lenovo into doing that. And then, finally, we need to make Dell and all the other manufacturers do the same.
